This writeup is actually from when I started playing with Arduino, Way back in pre 2011

 I participated in a workshop, organized by the danish hackerspace Labitat, immediately after this I ordered a start kit as showed below:

About this time I also played around with TI's msp340 platform and newly upcomming Raspberry Pi

The first project I made was the Powermeter , that by an light dependent resistor measures the energy consumptions in the house, by measuring the time between light flashes, his is then recalculated to the actual current energy consumption.
